HBO boxing presents “Manny Pacquiao’s Greatest Hits”.
The 8th time world champion Manny Pacquiao’s career has been packed with great wins, big fights and amazing boxing performances with some of the greatest fighters of all time. Here’s the recap of his performances during the 13 years of boxing.
On June 23, 2001 Manny Pacquiao faced Lehlohonolo Ledwaba of South Africa at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas Nevada for the IBF Super Bantamweight championship for the first time in United States. Manny Pacquiao has won via Technical Knockout on the Dela Hoya vs Castillejo undercard.
On November 15, 2003 Manny Pacquiao defeated the Mexican boxer Marco Antonio Barrera via Technical Knockout at the Alamodome, San Antonio, Texas for the Ring Featherweight title. Marco Antonio Barrera is at his peak of his career during that time and he was one of the top fighters during that era, but Manny Pacquiao shows no mercy with that win.
During May 8, 2004 was the first time Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez meet which ended up in a draw and ended up with a lot of controversies because Marquez was knockdown 3 times during the 12th round of fight.
On January 21, 2006 Manny Pacquiao crushed Erick Morales on a 10th round Technical Knockout win for the WBC Super Featherweight title at Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas, Nevada. Fresh from his defeat during the first time they’ve meet, Manny Pacquiao took the chance to prove to everyone that he is not a lousy fighter and become the first boxer to stop the Mexican fighter.
The second time Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez meet was on March 15, 2008 that also ended into a controversial result. Manny Pacquiao seemingly lose to Juan Manuel Marquez but Pacquiao ended as a champion for the WBC Super Featherweight title at Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Dream Match between Oscar Dela Hoya and Manny Pacquiao took place at MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada on December 6, 2008. Dela Hoya’s advantage on his height and reach is far from Manny Pacquiao but it doesn’t stop Manny from defeating the superstar. Dela Hoya stood no chance against Manny Pacquiao’s speed and power which ended in 8th round.
The easiest fight for Manny Pacquiao is against Ricky Hatton which ended into a 2nd round Technical Knockout win on May 2, 2009 at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada for the IBO Light Welterweight title.
Only a few minutes left before the 12th round ended but the referee has to stop the fight because Miguel Cotto is badly hurt by Manny Pacquiao’s punches. It happened last November 14, 2009 at MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada which Manny Pacquiao took the WBC Diamond Welterweight title.
A unanimous win by Manny Pacquiao against the giant opponent Antonio Margarito last November 13, 2010 at Cowboys Stadium, Arlington, Texas for the vacant WBC Light Middleweight title.
The 3rd match between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez happened last November 12, 2011 at MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada for the WBO welterweight title. Manny Pacquiao on via majority decision and also ended with some controversies.
The first lost to Timothy Bradley happened on June 9, 2012 for Manny Pacquiao. Manny Pacquiao dominated the entire battle but Bradley come out in a split decision win over Pacquiao.
